The test is intended for breastfeeding women who suffer from breast pain, especially in instances of recurrent mastitis, non-responsiveness to antibiotics within two days, when the patient is allergic to first line antibiotic treatment or when a hospital acquired mastitis (MRSA/ORSA) is suspected, or any irregular or harsh case (ABM protocol 2014).
Moreover, clinical protocols in developed countries recommend milk culture also in cases of deep breast pain or suspected deep fungal infection.
*This test is not considered diagnostic and is not qualified to diagnose or reject a medical condition
According to official guidelines, lactating women suffering from mastitis symptoms, should continue to breastfeed. Breast milk during mastitis is considered safe for full term healthy infants. Cessation of breastfeeding may exacerbate the mastitis status and result in medical complications and abscess formation. DO NOT stop breastfeeding.

According to WHO guidelines, mastitis diagnosis and treatment decisions benefit from laboratory bacteriological tests on breast milk samples from the affected breast. Breast milk culture and antibiogram is recommended for determining the most appropriate mastitis treatment, especially in instances of recurrence, non-responsiveness to antibiotics within two days, when the patient is allergic to first line antibiotic treatment or when a hospital acquired mastitis is suspected (ABM protocol 2014)
MyMilk developed a unique patent pending test for inflammation indications based on leukocyte counts, microbiology culture for pathogenic bacteria/candida identification and antibiogram. Together, these parameters enable an accurate differential diagnosis of mastitis types.
! Antibiotics use while sampling can damage the reliability of the test.
Consult with a health care professional for the proper mastitis treatment for you. If your symptoms (local or systemic) do not improve and/or if they worsen, you should see a doctor as soon as you possible.
This test is not considered diagnostic and is not qualified to diagnose or reject a medical condition
